BRAVA Alternative Energy Consulting Group BRAVA Alternative Energy Consulting Group specializes in serving private industry and individuals who require our expertise in federal contracts and grant writing applications to federal agencies, such as US Department of Energy, US Bureau of Oceans, Environmental Protection Agency, NOAA, and other sources. The February 17, 2009 US Stimulus Bill devotes $100 billion to the discovery, development, and implementation of various technologies. To learn more so that BRAVA Consulting Group can assist you or your organization with contracts, grants and R & D applications funding with DOE and other Economic Stimulus Act beneficiary state and federal agencies, visit $787 Billion US Economic Stimulus Act>>. Oil, natural gas, and coal together supply over 87% of the total world energy, which stands at 400 quadrillion BTUs, or "quads," per year. We currently put 26 Billion Tons of CO2 into the atmosphere yearly, 22 Tons (48,000 lbs.) per person in the USA, 5 Tons per person for everyone on the planet. To learn how to shed three or more tons of emissions this year with low carbon ideas, visit www.thegreenguide.com. Our atmosphere cannot sustain this massive CO2 onslaught and impact. Therefore, compensation for a realistic 2.5% annual decline in all fossil fuels averaged over the next 20 years would require developing almost 10 quadrillion BTUs (10 quads) of energy production capacity from new sources each year, which assumes no growth in energy demand despite the growth of world populations. Ten quads represent roughly 10% of total U.S. energy production. Today's total installed world wind and solar generating capacity stands at less than 1 quad BTUs. As of 2004, electricity generation from solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and waste combined accounted for a mere 2.1% of global electricity demand. The sun is our largest source of energy, dropping 970 kWh worth of free energy on us every day. (1 kWh = 3,412 MBtu). Enough solar energy strikes the US each day to supply our needs for 1.5 years. (970 KWh x 3,412 = 3,309,640 MBtu). The amount of solar energy striking our planet every minute is greater than the amount of fossil fuel the world uses each year! In 2010, 85 - 90 million barrels of oil are used each day in the world (multiply that times 365 days in a year!) Nearly all energy forms on earth come from the sun, including wind energy that comes from the uneven heating of the planet as it spins day and night, being warmed and cooled by the sun; hydro-power depends on rain that depends on the sun warming the surface causing evaporation; nuclear energy comes from uranium formed in a supernova explosion; the heat at the core of earth is the result of uranium, thorium, and potassium decaying causing convection. Tidal energy comes from the gravitational pull of the moon. However, even tidal engery is produced by the gravitational attraction of the moon and sun. The word "tides" is a generic term used to define the alternating rise and fall in sea level with respect to the land, produced by the gravitational attraction of the moon and the sun. To a much smaller extent, tides also occur in large lakes, the atmosphere, and within the solid crust of the earth, acted upon by these same gravitational forces of the moon and sun. Ocean levels fluctuate daily as the sun, moon and earth interact. As the moon travels around the earth and as they, together, travel around the sun, the combined gravitational forces cause the world's oceans to rise and fall. Since the earth is rotating while this is happening, two tides occur each day. Whenever the Moon, Earth and Sun are aligned, the gravitational pull of the sun adds to that of the moon causing maximum tides. Our entire infrastructure is built on oil. The world consumes 1,000 barrels of oil per second. The cost of the US nation's dependence on oil is estimated at $825.1 billion, and growing! With roughly a trillion barrels remaining, and considering the fact we are consuming over 85 million barrels of oil every day, 9 million barrels per day in the USA, the world has only about 30 to 40 years' worth of oil left at present rates of consumption. And, given that the world's population doubles every 40 years, the depletion of oil in 40 years combined with 16 billion humans makes the consequences catastrophic for all of humanity unless renewable and alternative energy sources are developed globally now. There is no time to lose! The hard facts of reality: In the event the world's population continues to grow at the same 1.9% rate per year, by the year 2600 humans will cover the earth standing shoulder to shoulder. Electricity consumption use will make the earth glow red hot. In short, humans will not be able to endure or withstand these horrific consequences, and like many animal species now extinct or on the verge of extinction, human beings will become extinct. The hard facts of reality: The world's optimum carbon dioxide mixture for our atmosphere is 280 to 350 ppm (parts per million). Our atmosphere currently measures at 440 ppm bordering on a positive feedback loop that will increase Co2 to a point where green house gases will melt the permafrost releasing methane, twenty-times more dense and lethal than Co2. In the event the world's oil exploration and burning of fossil fuels in our factories, airplanes and autos continues on its current path, humans, like other animals now extinct or polar bears and others bordering on extinction, we will no longer be here having cooked ourselves like "lobsters in a pot" of boiling temperatures. The hard facts of reality: We must start implementing alternative energy sources for humans, our military and our transportation. BRAVA Alternative Energy Consulting Group can provide you with the expertise to research, prepare, write and submit government contracts and grants to the appropriate US Federal agencies and to private foundations who support alternative energy entrepreneurs and seek creative solutions to preserve animals, plants, humans ̶ to preserve life and our beautiful blue planet. We can provide professional assistance and strategies to those entrepreneurs willing to explore solar photovoltaics, wind, bio diesel, ethanol, tidal, geothermal, who seek federal funding to change the current course of destruction to our planet with solutions, such as:
Energy Unit Equvalents 1 barrel of oil = 5.80 MBtu 1 ton oil = 39.68 MBtu 1 Btu = 251.9958 calories 1 kWh = 3,412 Btu 1 quad = 109 MBtu
