NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT PROTOCOL


Lifestyle Recommendations:

1. Practice good sleep habits and get between 8-9 hours of sleep a night.Take the "Tests Your Sleep IQ" at the National Institutes of Health http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov and follow the Insomnia Nutritional Support Protocol if needed.
2. Work up to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise 3 times a week and 30-60 minutes of resistance
training 3-4 times a week.
3. Create your circle of support.
4. Vitamin and mineral supplements are required for life.


Dietary Recommendations:


1. Avoid all high fat, high sugar and high calorie foods (dumping syndrome will be a sure sign that you have eaten too much: fat or sugar). Avoid foods where sugar is listed as one of the first three ingredients.
2. Eat 5-6 small meals per day, avoid continual snacking and be sure to chew all your food well (to a paste consistency). Remember your typical meal volume is about 2 ounces and should last about 30 - 45 minutes.
3. Do not try to eat foods and drink liquids together. It is very important to have liquids 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to meals. Drinking water flushes food through the stomach, depriving the sensation of being full, encouraging overeating.
4. Eat lean, clean, protein foods at every meal first. Choose omega-3 eggs, fish, chicken and lean meat.
5. Ease fiber back into your diet slowly but consistently (try PaleoFiber if needed).
6. It is important to consume adequate amounts of antioxidants which can be obtained daily through 5-9 servings of vegetables/fruit. If you are unable to get-in the recommended servings of vegetables/ fruit, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of PaleoGreens in purified water daily.
7. Drink at least 64 ounces of filtered, bottled or non-chlorinated water every day.
8. Avoid or limit caffeine and other potentially neurotoxic compounds like aspartame and MSG.
